Beck”s music reviewed by Megan Giddings of Megan seems disturbed that Beck is a low-key Scientologist celebrity. He hasn’t gone jumping on Oprah’s couch, but you know, he probably would if given the chance. And he’d do it with bunch of bears, and many guys dressed up as women. Beck’s a hoot, and not the only famous musician celebrity Scientologist. Can you say “Chick Corea” or “Isaac Hayes”,”David Pomerantz” or “Mark Isham”?

Why do celebrities turn to Scientology to help them succeed? Well, for one thing, it can help get them off drugs, help them to communicate, help make them more responsible for themselves and their own careers (instead of blaming agents or managers), and let’s not forget the most important reason – it helps make them more creative and aware, without any drugs. And it does all those things despite being hounded by special interests and hate groups.

So some celebrities get out and jump on couches — in any world this is better than drowing in their own puke (John Bonham, Jim Morrison, River Phoenix) in a drug-induced stupor.

But hey, it’s a free country and you can think what you want. You don’t have to think what everyone else thinks — it’s possible to have an original thought of your own.

Go on, I dare you to!

I know Beck’s parents were Scientologists and he went to a Scientology school. But was he always a Scientologist, or did he stop for awhile and then get back into it? Because I am pretty sure he indulged in some stupor-inducing substances back in the day. If Scientology helped him stop, more power to it, I guess!

I don’t know if, in his younger days, Beck imbibed. It’s up to the individual Scientologist whether he or she wants to have a drink on a Saturday night, take a Midol to relieve menstrual cramps, or take painkillers after surgery. No gang of Scientologists is going to show up and shame them or shun them or try to talk them out of it. A Scientologist with Type I Diabetes will shoot insulin every day like anyone else would. But you won’t find practicing Scientologists (those who are on Scientology courses or getting Scientology auditing) abusing alcohol or “recreational” drugs. And the Church of Scientology (and many individual Scientologists) are working very hard to try to keep big pharma and their puppet psychiatrists from drugging every child in the world.

I do know that Juliette Lewis got pretty wild in her youth. I’ve known her since just after she was born (her mom is a friend). She credits Narconon — which uses the Scientology drug rehabiliation tools — with getting her off drugs. She seems to really like her career change — she’s touring with her own band, singing her heart out.

Oh, cool! You know Lightfield? I’ve been waiting for his movie to come out!

I don’t think anybody really knows Lightfield… Glenis (his mom) sends out a great little “family news” newsletter that I always enjoy reading, but I have no data on when his movie’s coming out. I always thought he would beceome a director because he usually had a camera pointed at someone and was bossing them around when he was a teenager.
