You've found the blog of Jere Matlock, a web designer and writer. This journal is mostly about writing, web design and getting sites to the top of the search engines (SEO is my business). It is also full of opinions and observations about pretty much everything. If these things are not of interest to you, feel free to go now. Go on, shoo!

Still here? If you have something to say, post a comment or send me an email.

By the way, if you feel like taking offense at something posted on this site, go right ahead, it won't bother me a bit. Kingsley Amis has a nice quote about that, in which I take solace and some pride when the flames arrive:

"If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing."

London

2005-07-09: Rain here on the ranch today – it’s not supposed to rain in Oregon in July.

My prayers go out to those who died or lost loved ones in the bombings in London this week. If you don’t pray – give them a moment of silent, respectful contemplation and wish them well. I believe such praying or wishing can help and does more than you might think.

High hopes for new site

Just about wrapped up on the creation of this site: Miami Condo lifestyle. The client for whom I am building this site, Ned Berndt, is one of the more pleasant individuals I’ve dealt with in 9 years of web design. Having a great time building this site and it’s already doing well at MSN, even though it isn’t quite finished yet. A dozen or so pages were indexed by Google recently as well, but it’s not showing up in the top 100 yet in a search for “miami condo”. I expect it is already in Google’s “Sandbox”, …

Amazing what a celebrity like Tom Cruise or Mel Gibson can do for a cause. Last year the cause was the promotion of Christianity through The Passion of the Christ. This year, Tom Cruise ignited a firestorm of media with the simple observation that Matt Lauer was glib and irresponsible — both of which are obvious to anyone who has ever watched Matt Lauer (or any talk show host for that matter) at work. He is PAID to be glib and irresponsible. Speaking of Ms. Glib and Irresponsible, now Brooke Shields is entering the fray.

Here’s one MD’s take on …
