3 Trillion Barrels of Oil

This is an interesting article about oil reserves [link died] and fossil fuel dependency. The gist of it is that if we can get out of our own way, we have plenty of oil to carry us through to a post-petrol economy. But we can’t back away from nuclear power plants if we plan to do that.

I’m no expert on fuel and world affairs, but I do remember being told by my high school science teacher in about 1967 that we were going to run out of fuel by 1975. And yet today there are 3 trillion barrels of oil in known reserves.

We just need to get out of our own way, to solve this problem.
