Big Pharma and its Siamese twin psychiatry are profiting billions every year, and killing tens of thousands of people. And STILL they are being touted as the thing to do in every other ad on television and in every major magazine.

I guess the question is, “How many hundreds of thousands of people do you have to kill before it becomes socially wrong?”

This is an interesting article about the top 50 psychiatrists paid off by big pharma, as released by ProPublica.

And here’s a list from ProPublica of the entire list of 384 physicians who have received more than $100,000 in payments from big pharma.

Is your doctor on the list? Might want to think twice about the financial motivation on your doctor’s mind when he (or she) wrote that last prescription for you.

There used to be a name for this: Kickbacks.

I can’t recall ever linking to an article in the Huffington Post before. It’s not a site I read regularly, but once in a while they publish something worth reading. Today it was an article by psychiatrist Dr. Peter Breggin, on Our Psychiatric Civilization.

I disagree with Dr. Breggin’s stand on some issues, but he nails the issues in this article pretty well.

Numbing down Western Civilization with psych drugs so people can’t feel real emotions and don’t know what to do with them when they do, is not the answer to the emotional problems people face.

Real help is to be had in real communication with people.

My favorite part of his article: When someone with a problem talks with his rabbi, priest or minister, when they say “Get help” they mean “Get help elsewhere”. I believe that the education of priests, rabbis and ministers is so laden with non-workable psuedo-medical psychobabble that they don’t really understand (because it makes no sense!) that they don’t have anything workable to offer.

What’s wrong with helping someone yourself? Be a good listener, for starters. Friends let friends discuss their problems. Let them cry or rage and don’t run away from their problems yourself by telling them to get help elsewhere. Don’t offer them sympathy, but do offer them empathy and understanding, without evaluating for them or telling them what they ought to do to handle. All such offered solutions are usually rejected anyway. They’ll feel better and have a different perspective on it when you’re done. Real communication can occur between one spiritual being and another, and when it does, it is magical and transformative.

Tweaking someone’s brain chemistry so he can’t FEEL his emotions or hear his conscience telling him he’s done something wrong he should confess, is NOT the answer to his problems.

I do respect Peter Breggin’s efforts to help people get off psych drugs and to help them realize that a psychiatric label is just so much mumbo-jumbo.

He represents a small but growing segment of psychiatry that realizes it is now just a pawn of the drug companies, there to try to legitimize their criminal marketing of unsafe, harmful psych drugs.

Be sure to read the text at the end: 100,000 people die from “correct” prescription drugs in the USA every year. Neal posits that the purpose of the FDA is no longer to “protect the public”, but that the FDA’s purpose now is to “protect the drug companies.” I think he’s on to something there….

The FDA is considering reclassifying ECT machines (Electro Convulsive Therapy or shock machines) as Class 2 devices instead of Class 3 devices (which are dangerous). This would allow more widespread use of these barbaric instruments by psychiatrists.

Note that ECT Machines have never been tested for “safety” — they can’t pass any such safety inspections or tests because they cause irrevocable harm to patients who are, for the most part, forcibly administered electro shock. Sending hundreds of volts of electricity through the brain is not something that should be condoned by the FDA.

This little database of about 1000 stories that have been carried by the media in the last ten years shows the overwhelming evidence of psych drugs (and trying to withdraw from them) being the CAUSE of extremely violent behavior.

Big Pharma leaves a wake behind their markeing of Paxil, Zoloft, and other drugs: a pandemic of violent behavior (murder, suicide, mayhem) never seen before in this world.

If you’ve ever wondered why psych drugs are so expensive (some of them have a profit margin of more than 1000% (yes, that means they are selling them for more than a thousand times what they actually cost to make) aside from just making insane amounts of profit, they have to cover their asses from the lawsuits which inevitably follow. Profits from these drugs are in the billions of dollars annually.

If you’re thinking of putting someone on psychiatric drugs, check through the list on this database first and see what you can expect to follow. Which is more likely for a particular drug: homicide, or suicide?

If you are a journalist or blogger or politician, make sure you have done your homework before you forward whatever talking points the drug companies are handing out for members of congress to spout into the congressional record. (See a good blog post about politicians marching in lockstep with drug companies. Where do you think the politicians are getting the massive amounts of money needed to finance political campaigns these days? Senator Wyden from my home state of Oregon used to have an ad from a drug company right on the home page of his main website!)

The violent rampage of those on psych drugs is not limited to the big cities, either.

In just the last week, there have been three murder suicides in my little rural county in Southern Oregon.

1. My neighbor’s adult son killed his only brother with a home-made samurai sword. So now he’s in the klink for murder and not likely to ever be released.
2. A woman was pulled out of a shower, killed, and buried in a shallow grave by her ex-boyfriend, who must have watched a bunch of CSI programs, because he cleaned up after himself really well to make it look like she’d been abducted. They didn’t really have any other suspects: after some effective interrogation he led police to the shallow grave where he’d buried her.
3. A man shot his ex-wife in the back, then led police on a chase and finally shot himself dead after playing at suicide-by-cop for a while without getting the cops to go along with it. We don’t know yet whether she will live. Police found her dumped on the street when they responded to the shots a few blocks from the police station — he stole her car to get away.

So where does all this suicidal ideation and homicidal ideation come from? In large part from the very drugs that the psyhiatrists are prescribing to their patients in lieu of any effective form of treatment. These symptoms of homicidal and suicidal ideation are a frequent side effect of the drugs psychiatrists use to “prevent” violent behavior. They just make it worse by several orders of magnitude.

So if you’re a journalist, editor, publisher, or a doctor, educator, or politician thinking about “mental health parity” or “mandatory mental health screenings” like the “Mother’s Act”, please USE the database I link to above to do your own research into the dangers of psychiatric drugs before you sign on with the drug companies.

This two-minute video from CCHR explains what’s wrong with psychiatry. It’s from Dr. Niall McLaren, who’s been a practicing psychiatrist for 22 years, and is the former head of the Dept of Psychiatry at Repatriation Hospital in Australia.

Bluntly, he says that psychiatry is pseudo-science and that all their bunk hangs from one skyhook, “that mental disorder is brain disorder”. And that there is no proof whatever to that premise.

As he says, “bugger the money” that’s being wasted on psychiatry and psych medicine. It’s the inability of psychiatry to actually help people, and the actual harm that it does to people, that is at issue.

Psychiatry is to medicine as astrology is to astronomy. A system of beliefs based on observation and tradition — and not much more.

This brilliant new video called “What We Believe” does a good job of outlining why my friends at CCHR (I’ve been a member since 1972) fight the “mental health” screening and mass psychiatric drugging of children, and why we believe that involuntary commitment is a violation of any person’s basic human rights.

If the psychs (and big pharma) have their way — and they’ve put this into the Obama Care health plan — then everyone in America, from birth through their dotage, will be screened at every step along the way, and drugged “appropriately” to handle their “mental health” issues.

If you have never read “Brave New World” I highly recommend it. If you think it could never happen – hell, we’re half-way to the “Brave New World” already, compared to where we were 50 years ago.

This is an excellent little video from Dr. Mary Anne Block, Medical Director of The Block Center, describing why she wrote her book “No More ADHD” She succinctly describes what the real problems can be that psychiatrists label as ADD and ADHD, and then seek to mask or cover up their symptoms with drugs like Ritalin, that have serious side effects (including heart attack and death), and which can cause suicide when someone tries to withdraw from them.

Take three minutes and watch it.

Kids who fidget, can’t sit still, blurt out answers in class without being asked, or whose attentions wander, usually have an underlying medical condition such as an allergy or other medical problem that can actually be diagnosed using real science, and not the subjective checklist that psychiatrists use to label kids as having ADD or ADHD.

Don’t drug your kids with drugs that psychiatrists prescribe. The “science” behind their theories of brain chemical imbalance is completely bogus. There are no medical tests that can tell a doctor that a kid is suffering from a lack of Ritalin, because it simply isn’t ever the truth. Here’s a great little essay by my friend Dean Blehert about the way psych drugs are created and marketed and the obscene caricature of the scientific method they use as “proof” that their drugs work and should be sold by the billions of dollars-worth, to kids.
