I just read Ken Blackwell’s essay called “Purple Fingers Aren’t Enough”. He has given eloquent voice to the thoughts running around in many of our heads as we watched the revolution succeed in Egypt. In effect, most of what he said can be summed up in the quote he gives from Edmund Burke: “Men of intemperate minds cannot be free; their passions forge their fetters.”

I’m trying hard to think that that’s not going to prove true in this case, but when you see what appear to be ignorant, poor, and intolerant people shooting automatic weapons in the air to celebrate their victory over Hosni Mubarek, it does not bode well for the freedom of the religious minorities among the people in Egypt. What of the thousands of Coptic Christians who reside there? What of the Jews still in Egypt? Their fate at this time is in jeopardy.

Respecting the religious beliefs of others is a cornerstone of a free society. Without that religious tolerance built into its constitution — the right to believe for oneself what one wants — a new government can be very oppressive, indeed dangerous to its minorities. It seems obvious that a government formed under the Muslim Brotherhood would be more intolerant than the government of the uncaring Mubarek.

Sharia law, if implemented by the Muslim Brotherhood (and what else would they implement but some form of Sharia law) with its fickle dhimma based on taxing unbelievers — seems more a form of organized religious oppression than religious tolerance.

Hopefully I’m wrong.

Religious freedom is a precious thing — only in the last couple of hundred years has it really been guaranteed and enshrined in any governments at all, however poorly.

As children going to school in the 1950′s in Texas, we would often start the day with a prayer during morning assemblies where all the kids and faculty were gathered in the auditorium to get the day started. As an agnostic child, I sometimes felt pressured to pray with everyone else, but held it as a matter of personal pride that I never did so. I protested the seeming requirement to pray (everyone else was praying) by simply remaining silent.

When we recited the Pledge of Allegiance, I would simply leave out the “under God” part of the pledge.

I came to realize that NO ONE CARED — not one iota — whether I believed in God or not, whether I prayed with them or not.

No one ever tried to force me to pray.

I think it wrong to have it reversed now, where children are NOT allowed to pray in American schools. To my mind, that shows a definite LACK of respect for their religious beliefs. If the coach wants to pray with the team before a football game (and I think is ludicrous to pray for something as trivial as the outcome of a football game), he should still have the right to do so.

Another one bites the dust: the City of Hamburg, Germany, is closing down its Anti-Scientology task force. They cite economic hardship as the reason. One could also deduce that a decade of human rights violations and a total failure to accomplish anything had something to do with closing it down.

The driving force of that task force, Ursula Caberta, took a $75,000 bribe a few years back from an anti-Scientologist and was fined 7,500 Euros in 2002 for that corruption. She’s now going to work in the city’s Interior Ministry. As one of my sarcastic friends put it: “There she will presumably still fret and pace over the grave public dangers of Scientologists’ work in literacy centers, drug-abuse prevention and rehab programs, morality campaigns, prisoner reform work, and Volunteer Ministers’ help to disaster victims.”

So Germany is one small step closer to coming off of the US State Department’s list of countries that persecute minority religions. They have a few miles to walk down that road.

This brilliant new video called “What We Believe” does a good job of outlining why my friends at CCHR (I’ve been a member since 1972) fight the “mental health” screening and mass psychiatric drugging of children, and why we believe that involuntary commitment is a violation of any person’s basic human rights.

If the psychs (and big pharma) have their way — and they’ve put this into the Obama Care health plan — then everyone in America, from birth through their dotage, will be screened at every step along the way, and drugged “appropriately” to handle their “mental health” issues.

If you have never read “Brave New World” I highly recommend it. If you think it could never happen – hell, we’re half-way to the “Brave New World” already, compared to where we were 50 years ago.

Today I received a spam from the United Nations — well, at least it *says* it is from a Mr. Tim Peterson of the United Nations Department of International Fraud Surveillance and Control– claiming to have shut down the bank accounts of the unethical and fraudulent Nigerian scammers. But not to worry, my funds are safely being held in trust by the United Nations [obviously stolen UN logo inserted here].

After laughing myself silly, I realized that Mr. Tim Peterson is only doing in the online world what was done decades ago in the actual United Nations. Nigerian and Ivory Coast scams and influence peddling, outright bribes, corruption, as well as other international fraud of every hue, color and creed, crept from the back alleys of Lagos to the back halls of the UN, where it has spread and festered since its creation in 1945, over time creating the gross corpus of today’s United Nations, which now resembles nothing more than a thoroughly corrupt, bloated and incompetent whore.

The UN was created with great pomp and ceremony at the end of World War II, with the stated purpose of preventing wars between countries. It has failed time and again to do this (has it *ever* succeeded at this?) instead lining the pockets of its members with funds primarily fleeced from the United States. It was created to help enforce human rights around the world. But during the UN’s watch, China murdered millions of its own citizens. Russia murdered millions of its citizens. Vietnam and other southeast asian countries murdered millions of their own citizens, while the UN postured and posed and in the end did nothing. Brutal pogroms and genocides happen with alarming regularity in countries across Africa, with the UN troops *participating*, not preventing.

I’m sure there are many people working for the UN who believe in its mission and do not participate in its omnipresent scams. But they are a minority.

The League of Nations was scrapped when the UN was formed, because it was ineffectual at preventing World War II.

It is long past the time to look at scrapping the United Nations (the United States pulling out of it would do the trick as it would collapse from lack of funding!) and replacing it with a more effective group.

This heartwrenching video about Baby Indiana, born with breathing problems caused by her mother taking the antidepressant Effexor during pregnancy, points people to the Unite For Life website. The video is a photo documentary of the problems leading to the death of this beautiful baby girl.

The purpose of the insidiously named “Mother’s Act” is to screen all pregnant women, all new mothers, and all infants from birth, for “mental health” problems. The only remedy the psychs have is these horrific drugs like Effexor, which cause birth defects and death. The underlying purpose of the Mother’s Act is for Big Pharma to sell more drugs.

Join with Unite for Life and with CCHR to help prevent passage of the Mother’s Act. Do it now, before they rush this through Congress.

Dennis Clarke, whom I’ve respected for about the last 30 years, has been a very hard-hitting spokesman for Citizen’s Commission on Human Rights. His television appearances are memorable and intensely enjoyable; he has enough facts memorized to go up against any psychiatrist in a debate and expose the pseudo-science and lack of any scientificfoundation of their most cherished and idiotic beliefs about brain chemistry, chemical imbalance, etc. He’s written this linked article about the whole process of the wholesale labeling and drugging of children by psychiatry in the schools.

If you’re in the life of a child who has been falsely labeled as ADHD or OCD, based on completely subjective criteria and without any actual medical tests, PLEASE do yourself a favor and contact CCHR.org and get help to get out of this trap. The drugs they put kids on are highly addictive — it’s sometimes incredibly difficult to stop taking Ritalin, for example. There’s no need to put up with these bogus labels and no need to keep drugging your child for the rest of his life. First read Dennis’s article and arm yourself with the facts.

Today is offically “blog about human rights day”, and this is my official post about Human Rights. Even though this day is demarcated to be for this subject, I do not blog about human rights only on this day. You’ll find a lot of posts in this blog throughout the year, on the subject of human rights, especially as they relate to the abuses of psychiatry against them.

Here’s a place to read up on what are the basic human rights guaranteed all humans on earth by the United Nations. (Fat lot of good such a guarantee does in most cases, but it was approved into international law in 1948, spearheaded through the old UN by Eleanor Roosevelt after the demise of FDR.) Not a lot of effort from the UN has gone into educating the masses about their existing human rights under international law, but a group called Youth for Human Rights has been working hard at such education for several years, seeking to educate the youth of the world about their basic human rights.

A particularly galling abuse of human rights has recently been brought to light by the Washington Post, which documents about 250 instances of unwilling deportees being drugged against their will when they are put on airplanes by ICE (US Immigration Control and Enforcement). It appears that many of the people being deported are first being sedated against their will using Haldol and other strong psychotropic drugs, (the kind that leave one drooling in a stupor) even when the deportees have agreed to go willingly. This makes them much easier to transport (a wheelchair is all that is required) and “cooperative”. This is of course being done without any medical examination, and is not being done by licensed physicians, but by gangs of burly guards holding the person down and then injecting the deportees through their clothing. My question is, what psychiatrist is prescribing these drugs? How else are the guards getting them except with a prescription? This is an unconscionable abuse of power.
