Clayton Holmes helped by Scientology courses
I thought it appropriate that on this Super Bowl Sunday, I found an article about Clayton Holmes, the three-time Super Bowl winner who squandered his money on strippers and drugs, fathered four kids with four different women, and by age 38 was living in a shack on his mother’s place in Florence, SC; financially broke and a broken man.
Lately, however, he has started taking Scientology courses and is turning his life around:
“I know a lot of people look at Scientology and think it’s hearsay or think of Tom Cruise, but I’d encourage people to read about it before making a judgment. All I know is it’s helped me gain a proper perspective and outlook on certain things. I hope people choose not to bash Scientology and instead look at me as a person who is in the process of figuring out how to create a better environment for kids.”
Clayton is beginning a career as a motivational speaker. He certainly has a lot of experience on which to draw. I am reminded of Chris Farley’s skits on Saturday Night Live, where his character gave motivational talks to misbehaving teenagers, essentially telling them they didn’t want to end up like him, “living in a van down by the river!”.
