My local Church of Scientology in Portland, Oregon, has just bought a new building, located at 812 SW Washington St., downtown. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Psychiatry (a misnomer, as there are no statistics in it) currently lists 370 types of mental illness. It all sounds so scientific, until you find out that they vote (using a simple show of hands) to add new “mental diseases” to the DSM. Here’s a terrific video about the DSM that explains the scam. The reason they have so many kinds of mental diseases is so that they can bill insurance companies (and the government) for their “treatment” and for the drugs being pushed by the pharmaceutical companies.
