Directory Submissions
Question: A HUGE THANK YOU!!! for your information on getting a website into the directories and registered with the search engines. I’m a total newby and don’t have any money to pay the big boys so I was really appreciative of your willingness to share the knowledge so I could do it
myself. Thanks so much. - C.
Answer: You are very welcome. I hope the registrations work for you. There’s a good little program available here: http://directorysubmitter.imwishlist.com/
It costs less than $100, and will help you register your site in about 2500 different directories. About half of those are paid or require a link
exchange — I advise you not to do either of those things to get links. But that leaves about 900 possible free links to your site from directories if
you use the directory submitter program. It’ll take you about 30-40 hours to do the project, but it will be worth it for the links to your site and
the rise in Google PageRank that you get from that.
We also offer a service of hand submission of websites to the top 30 directories and a couple of search engines. The page we use to do this is here: http://www.wordsinarow.com/wheretogo.html. That might be more appropriate for an established commercial website. We’ve f9ound it is really helpful to be listed in the Yahoo Directory, ODP (DMOZ), and Galaxy, among others. Some of them require payment with submission, and the total amount for the top 30 directories is about $1200 in hard costs, listed here: http://www.wordsinarow.com/hardcosts.html
